Like many of you, I find that the end of the year is both a time of reflection and an opportunity for optimism. I am very proud of the work that we, the Vancouver Post Alliance, has done this year and I would like to take a minute to highlight (just) some work we are particularly proud of:
Onto the optimism! In mid-November, several members of the board, as well as no less than eight of our sponsors and corporate members, travelled to LA to represent the VPA and Vancouver’s post-production interests writ large.
The group met in-person with Netflix, Lionsgate, Disney, and CBS, as well as hosting a cocktail hour that had more of an independent studio-focused guest list. It is not an understatement to say that our contingent was very well received, and the message from the studios was consistent and clear. They are unanimously looking for more exposure to our talent base. In their words, “they don’t know who they don’t know”.
In response, the VPA will be mounting a campaign to ensure that all our members’ profiles are fleshed out and up-to-date so we can provide these studios with quarterly reports on our membership rosters. We have added the option for our members to feature specific credits and list relevant awards on their professional profiles, so please take a minute to update your personal profiles. We want to make sure that all our members are included in these sector-based lists and that you are all provided the opportunity to shine.
