Aren X. Tulchinsky (formerly known as Karen X. Tulchinsky), a graduate of the prestigious Canadian Film Centre, is a picture editor, story editor and writer. Aren has been an editor and writer on numerous television series, including Queen of the Oil Patch(APTN), The Nature of Things(CBC), High Arctic Haulers(CBC), First Dates(Slice), The Bachelor Canada(CityTV) and Kink(Showcase).
Also a screenwriter, Tulchinsky has had several feature length screenplays in development with Telefilm Canada and Harold Greenberg funding, including I Shot the Sheriff, a western to be directed by acclaimed Canadian director Clement Virgo(The Book of Negroes).
A novelist, Aren is the author of four books, including the award-winning novel, The Five Books of Moses Lapinsky, which won the One Book One Vancouver Prize, was a Toronto Book Award Finalist, was named by the Toronto Star as one of the top ten books about Toronto on a list that included Margaret Atwood and was honoured with a permanent plaque in Christie Pits Park in Toronto.
Tulchinsky lives in the traditional, unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ / sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Coast Salish peoples.
