Featured Corp Member: Alter Ego Post

Craig Harris

What are you working on right now?

We’re currently collaborating on a wide range of projects—from commercials and television to features and independent films.

What is a favourite project that you’ve worked on, and why?
Mad Max: Fury Road and Furiosa are two standout projects we’re proud to have worked on. But what’s helped us succeed over the years is a simple principle: we treat every project like it’s our most important—whether it’s a global feature, a commercial, or a student film. That level of care and commitment doesn’t go unnoticed, and our clients value it deeply.

What percentage of your work is with local vs. international clients?
Our focus in Vancouver is to collaborate closely with local productions. Remote collaboration tools ensure seamless service — whether clients are in the room or around the world.

Are you a Mac/PC/Linux shop? Or all of the above?
We use all of the above and will use whatever tool gets the job done better and faster.

What software/hardware/plugins can you not live without?
The studio is powered by 8 Baselights, 4 Resolves, 9 Flames, and a top-tier CG and motion design department.

Are Dolby Atmos/Dolby Vision capabilities something you have or are looking into?
We are fully equipped to grade and deliver projects using Dolby Vision.

Any workflow improvements brought about by the need to work remotely?

With hybrid workflows becoming standard and the need for top-tier post rising, the timing couldn’t be better. And although we are a local with local staff, remote workflows will allow our Vancouver studio to support more filmmakers, studios, and networks, while maintaining the exceptional quality the we are known for.

What do you miss most about “in person” client sessions?
When client’s aren’t able to make a session we really miss being able to make them great cups of coffee.

How long have you been a VPA corporate member?
This is our first year as a corporate member.

Is there anything else about your company that you’d like people to know about that we haven’t yet asked?
We are excited to be part of the Vancouver community. Heading up the new location is world-renowned colourist and Alter Ego’s head of colour, Eric Whipp (Mad Max: Fury Road, Mad Max: Furiosa), alongside partners Wade Odlum, Greg Edgar, Craig Harris, and senior colourist Kipp Lightburn. Both Craig and Kipp have deep ties to the Vancouver production community, making this a natural next step.
