The Women in Post program offers higher-level industry access and professional development for emerging to mid-level women-identifying and non-binary creatives working in all areas of post-production.
The programming includes strategic learning modules, creative and technical skills building, and hands-on mentorship with a post-production company, as well as opportunities to shadow roles related to post-production.
Applications will close on July 23rd, 2026, at 5 PM.

On June 1, we had the pleasure of welcoming over 200 members of Vancouver’s post-production community to another sold-out VPA Summer BBQ at Craft Beer Market in English Bay.
From reconnecting with colleagues and making new connections to enjoying great food, drinks, and one of the best waterfront views in the city, it was a fantastic way to kick off the summer together.
We’re also proud to share that, thanks to your generosity, we raised $1,500 for the BC Cancer Foundation through our raffle fundraiser! Congratulations to our raffle winners, and a huge thank you to our generous prize donors: Western Imperial, Line 21, and Oddfellows.
Events like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of our volunteers, sponsors, dedicated VPA team, and, most importantly, our incredible members. We’ll also share an overview of each committee’s work and introduce the nominees for the 2026 Board of Directors, giving members a chance to meet them in person before casting their vote.

The VPA is thrilled to support VIFF and our community of local filmmakers. This year, we are presenting Bringing Monsters to Life, featuring VFX Supervisor Dennis Berardi, VFX Supervisor for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
Straight from the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Berardi will sit down with us on October 11 to discuss his belief that spectacular effects must always serve the narrative. Join us as he shares insights from his work, exploring how modern VFX techniques honour the legacy of practical effects while opening new storytelling possibilities.

Help Keep Canada Competitive in Film & TV Production
Canada’s motion picture industry supports more than 181,000 jobs and generates over $10.2 billion in annual production activity. Tax incentives play an important role in attracting productions to Canada and supporting the workers and businesses behind them.
Currently, when productions receive provincial tax credits, the amount of eligible labour expenses used to calculate their federal Production Services Tax Credit is reduced. This is known as the federal grind and can limit the combined benefit of these incentives.
Petition e-7794 calls on the Government of Canada to eliminate the federal grind, allowing federal and provincial incentives to work more effectively together. The goal is to strengthen Canada’s competitiveness, attract and retain productions, and support the jobs, businesses and talent that make our industry possible.
Whether you work in film and TV, hope to join the industry, or want to support Canadian jobs, you can make your voice heard.

This World Mental Health Day, VPA recognizes the importance of mental health and well-being across our industry.
Supporting our community goes beyond the work we do. It’s also about the people who make it possible.
We’re highlighting one of the mental health resources available to VPA members as part of our commitment to a healthier, more supportive industry: THE VPA WELLNESS SERIES - Supporting the Mind Behind the Work.
Post-production runs on focus, pressure, and constant gear-switching — and that takes a toll over time. The VPA has partnered with our friend and colleague Shanelle Connell, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with Therapy: Off Script (a practice built specifically for film and entertainment professionals), on a short video series for our members.
